John ( JC ) Tecklenburg III is a motion designer based in the Chicagoland area.

Originally from Washington, Pennsylvania, JC spent his childhood abroad in Beijing, China. He earned his degree from American University in film and media arts with concentrations in computer science, mandarin chinese, and graphic design.

A problem solver by heart, JC delights in creating intricate motion graphics and video content that fits your needs while being engaging, fun, and expertly designed. 

JC has worked with brands like Nissan, MTV, AT&T and American University. As well as been battle-tested in election-year political advertisement cycles. He’s been freelance since 2017.

FREELANCE MOTION DESIGNER—GENERALIST

Designer. Animator. Look-Development. Compositor. Editor. 3D Artist. VFX. Rock-Star. At one point or another these are all roles inhabited in freelance.

Create nationally broadcast end-tags, full-graphic ads, giant multi-screen stage visuals and more by understanding client desires and collaborating with them to forge goal-fulfilling, beautiful work.

Navigate multiple projects to completion by working together with producers, creative directors and other artists (on-site or remote) for studios like Flavor and Leviathan; be them a single day or multiple months long.

Trusted with brands like McDonald's, Intel, Modelo, Meijer, and Nissan.

Battle tested doing design and animation for broadcast spots, explainer videos, museum content and political ads within strict budget, timeline, and confidentiality constraints. Several projects would have exceeded them if not for personal technical proficiency.

Lead in-house client sessions creating next-day nationally broadcast spots.

Animator and Designer in a lean team of 3 elevating informational, promotional, and narrative video content with refined graphics and animation. In addition, served as an essential member of live-action crew as assistant camera, grip, and sound operator.

Developed 360˚ VR video workflow for pre, production and post. Post production director/cinematographer on narrative test film.  Provided H3PRO10HD stitching solutions, equirectangular VFX workflows, procedural muzzle flare rigs, and equirectangular matte painting techniques to fit a strict 1 month post production timeline.

Productions Director, Special Broadcast Technical Producer

Sole motion designer and animator of motion graphic packages and visual effects for AUATV’s shows during my tenure. Technical producer and director of photography (in studio and on location) for interviews including OKGO , Ron Paul, and Dick Cheney.  Additionally I lead a team that created commercial promotional videos.
